My Home Away From Home….
It takes a lot to hide from my kids these days, so I’ve booked myself a flight to the ISS-International Space Station. Here, in space, there will be no talking through closed doors, or massive eruptions when I’m having a phone conversation with another human being. Here there will be silence. The only noise will be from the space junk whirling around in various orbits and some cosmic explosions once in a while, and this is what Mommies In Orbit craves!!
Kids are about the noisiest creatures I’ve ever endured. I avoided having them like the plague for many years, and then it dawned on me, what the hell am I going to do in my golden years? So I had twins. Now what am I doing during those golden years? Raising kids! And not at my beachfront condo in Florida! There is no fine dining at fancy restaurants or driving a two seater sporty car. There is homework, and parent-teacher conferences, soccer games and trips to the mall.
As we enter the pre-teen years, I am experiencing the ride of a lifetime. No two days are the same. There are door slamming performances to attend, brawling and bickering, and personality changes enough to stun Freud! Does it keep me busy? Why yes it does, in fact it has scrambled my brain to the point of no return. Who I was before and who I am now are distinctly different.
If you’re gonna have kids, just know that life as you knew is gone in a flash. You’ll find yourself rocking back and forth at your desk with your head buried in your hands quite frequently, especially if you have tween twins or teens. Get used to it! This is called, parenting and if Momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy!
